Client
Marina is a brand with its own, differentiated account which advocates social and environmental efficiency and responsibility. It is an initiative that aims to join forces in order to remove as much litter from the sea as it can and transform it into continents of responsibility.
The purpose of the project was to produce products of proximity and encourage fair trade, reducing marine plastic waste and mitigating the negative impacts represented by the textile sector.
Challenge
Coming up with an ecodesign of a bag / backpack made from marine and terrestrial waste, thus closing the cycle.
What was done?
Faced with the great common challenge of creating the new plastic economy, we designed innovative products in the company’s market; bags and backpacks with 100% recycled and recyclable fabric, produced with from marine waste PET from the Mediterranean and the Cantabrian Seas and recycled PET from post-consumption terrestrial waste.
Results
780
Pieces manufactured and marketed.
320
Kg of recovered plastic waste.
-30%
Kg of CO2 equivalent.
Conclusions
The spinning, sewing, review, treatment and clothing making process is carried out in Barcelona and its surrounding areas, less than 100 km from the capital. This project has allowed us to co-design a high-end product with different agents, creating value from plastic waste.
