Client
Equivalenza is a company founded in 2011 “to revolutionise the world of perfumery.” It specialises in perfumes, scented cosmetics, and home fragrances made with natural ingredients that are environmentally friendly and affordable.
It has 600 stores in 22 countries and an annual turnover of 75 million euros. The company has always been committed to sustainability. For this reason, it promotes the reuse of glass containers in all its products, has optimised its order system, and since 2021, its perfumes are 100% vegan.
Challenge
To compile a document that integrates sustainability into Equivalenza’s daily operations, generates real changes, and responds to the company’s strategic opportunities and challenges so that it can advance towards sustainability in an agile and autonomous way.
What was done?
An internal analysis was conducted to identify critical points in terms of sustainability, improvement opportunities, and key stakeholders to involve. An introductory training session was also provided to key departments of the company on eco-design, environmental quantification, and circular economy.
Sector trends and emerging innovations in the beauty sector were analysed to understand the company’s relationship with its ecosystem and future prospects for sustainability within the sector. Together with the company, an exercise was carried out to define and prioritise action lines, and impact objectives and monitoring indicators were established.
Additionally, an estimate of the environmental impact associated with the actions was included where possible.
Results
1
Sustainability strategy that, in a single document, includes ongoing circularity actions, analyses global macro trends that will act as change forces, sector trends in sustainability, and a roadmap with work lines.
5
Improvement actions identified: quantify, monitor, communicate, design for the future, and create networks.
29
Work lines prioritised according to their applicability and relevance to the company.
Conclusions
Equivalenza now has a strategy that will help it make circular economy a transversal element within the company, monitor the evolution of its environmental impact, and have data that allows it to make informed decisions.
