Client
Leng-d’Or, a multinational company founded in 1964, is the world’s leading third-party manufacturer of snack pellets. Snack pellets are a food product typically made from cereals, potatoes, or legumes, and subjected to intensive heat treatment until they adopt a dry form. They are packaged in cardboard boxes or big bags and shipped.
Leng-d’Or has bases in Spain, the United States, Singapore, and Brazil, and is present in over seventy countries.
Challenge
To design a Climate Action Plan (CAP) to decarbonize the company’s activities and align its 2030 strategy with the greenhouse gas emissions reduction commitment set by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), which aims to keep global warming below 1.5°C.
What was done?
- The results of Leng-d’Or’s 2022 carbon footprint calculation were analyzed to identify methodological improvements and critical points in carbon footprint sources across different emission categories.
- Emission reduction targets were established according to the SBTi.
- A Climate Action Plan was designed for 2030, with actions across five focus areas: energy transition, energy efficiency, suppliers, mobility, and packaging. In this phase, the emission reduction potential of each action and the overall results of the Action Plan were calculated.

Conclusions
Leng-d’Or is committed to maintaining global temperature increases below 1.5°C in line with the Paris Agreement and the SBTi. Key challenges to help the company reach this goal include the gradual electrification of its vehicle fleet, promoting sustainable mobility, optimizing boilers and natural gas combustion processes, achieving 100% renewable electricity for facilities in Spain and the U.S., and encouraging suppliers to commit to slowing global temperature rise.
With the Climate Action Plan now in place, the next step will be to implement it so that the emissions reduction targets become a reality.
