Client
Arpe is a family-owned textile company based in Arenys de Munt, Barcelona. Its products are made from polyester yarn derived from post-consumer rPET bottles, reflecting a commitment to reusing existing waste and giving it a second life. The products are eco-designed following circular economy principles and manufactured using 100% renewable energy. The company’s goal is to achieve carbon neutrality.
Challenge
To support Arpe in developing a Shared Value Business Plan that integrates sustainability across the organisation, focusing on the company’s most material aspects, and comfortably meeting the requirements for B Corp certification.
What was done?
- Initial assessment: An evaluation of Arpe’s starting position in sustainability was conducted using the B Corp standard as a benchmark. This standard assesses not only operational sustainability but also business models that prioritise positive impacts on people and/or the planet.
- Double materiality analysis: ESG (environmental, social, and governance) issues most relevant to the company were identified, considering both their impact and financial significance. A double materiality matrix was developed, and strategic and positioning opportunities were identified. This was done following the European Financial Reporting Advisory Group (EFRAG) guidelines for CSRD reporting.
- Business plan creation: Based on these analyses, a business plan was drafted, detailing actions and proposals to address improvement areas and enhance the B Corp score, prioritised by materiality or urgency.
